Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom said it had received around 500 complaints about Channel 4's outage, which cut off subtitles, audio description and sign language services. Rolling out BBC One in high definition across England

The BBC already broadcasts BBC One in HD in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and we're now extending this to regional versions of BBC One HD in England too. ITV has been forced to apologise after its Freeview channel suddenly stopped working for thousands of viewers today. Viewers in Essex, Bristol, Sheffield and West Yorkshire have so far been affected and a live report chart appeared to suggest the issue began at about 3pm. Work to replace the mast was halted last week as wind and rain made it too dangerous for Arqiva's 100-strong team to fly helicopters or climb heights. 'Cake' mentioned 10 times more than 'climate change' on UK TV

While terms describing the issue - climate change, climate emergency and climate crisis - had 14,540 mentions, those referring to tackling the problem - climate justice, climate action and climate solution - only had 296 mentions combined. The report analysed the subtitles from all shows in 2020 on the BBC, Sky, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and UKTV. It found climate change was mentioned 12,715 times while cake was mentioned 10 times more often, with 133,437 mentions. - www.theguardian.com

Bilsdale mast fire: Television services restored thanks to new transmitter

The company has used a combination of its existing sites and new, temporary structures to restore services and was today able to announce that an additional new transmitter site at Sutton Bank was now providing Freeview TV signals to over 100,000 households in areas including Harrogate, Knaresborough, Pickering, Ripon, Masham, Leyburn and northern parts of York.
