Whitehaven switchover captions
Brian Butterworth published on UK Free TV From tomorrow (8th May 2007) the analogue BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1 and Channel 4 pictures from the Whitehaven transmitter (and relays) will be captioned to indicate the pending removal of analogue TV from the transmitter.
The top-of-screen translucent captions will last for a minute and will be seen several times each day between 6am and midnight:
The same captions will be seen on all analogue television screens in the months before the regional switchovers.
On October 17, on C46, BBC TWO will be replaced on analogue by ITV1. C43 will then be used to transmit multiplex 1, which provides BBC TWO (as well as BBC One, BBC Three, BBC News 24 and CBBC).
On November 14, C46 will switch from ITV1 analogue to digital multiplex B (BBC FOUR, CBeebies, BBC Parliament, BBCi), C50 will switch from analogue BBC One to provide multiplex 2 (ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, CITV, Channel 4, More4, Film4+1, E4).
This will free C40 from TV transmission, and will provide "18 digital channels".
Note: Five will start when the rest of the region switches.
