Tonight, if your analogue BBC TWO disappeared a few weeks ago and you don't have a Freeview box (or Freesat, cable or Sky) then you will have no TV tonight.

This is the first time in the UK that a whole region will switch to digital only television. The process will see the existing five low power Freeview signals turned off, and then the analogue FIVE, Channel 4, ITV1 and BBC one. This will mean that for the first time in 47 years there will be no analogue TV signal from here.

Then the new high power Freeview signals will start transmitting. This will happen first at Selkirk, and then in the following half day, the rest of the relay transmitters.

On the right, the area served directly by the Selkirk Transmitter, on the left the whole region - the lighter yellow areas cross other regions

If you use the Selkirk transmitter and get Freeview now, you will need to rescan your box. You may find that My Freeview box has no EPG, is missing Film4, Channel 4+1, no sound on ITV3 or the channel line up is wrong - ukfree.tv - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002 may be required.

If you have one of these Freeview boxes TVs and boxes that do not support the 8k-mode - ukfree.tv - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002 - you will now get nothing and will need a new Freeview box.

If you are on a relay - and have only the BBC channels on your new Freeview box - you may need to rescan for channels during the morning, but you might have to wait while the engineers ensure the whole region is working.

If you have a Freeview box and get nothing, you may need a new aerial. However, you can also get Freesat - All about Freesat - ukfree.tv - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002.

If you do get Freesat, you will be pleased to hear that FIVE is now there - on 105 from today.

If you are in the ITV Border Scotland region, let us know if you have any problems!

Let us hope there are none!
