Channel M - TV for Manchester has been allocated a frequency (either C57 or C56) to operate a low-power Freeview multiplex from the Winter Hill transmitter.

This service will have a much wider coverage area than the current channel 39 and will provide bandwidth for more than just a single TV channel.

This is the first digital multiplex to operate on a local basis, and is the first new multiplex to broadcast in the UK.
