I live on the South Coast in the Rowridge transmitter area. We are not due to go fully digital until March sometime. However, a few years back we purchased a full Sony Digital TV and the aerial man sadi if he couldn't get a didtal picture there would be no chage...fair enough, and since that date we have been picture perfect...no problems. Just before Christmas, we needed to replace our small, portable TV in the conservatory (Doubles up in our touring caravan.) This too, has been fine, running off the same aerial. We replaced it with a 240/12 Volt Cello 22" with built in DVD. (The reason being that touring overseas in Europe I understand that 12volt would ensure that the DVD bit would work, which it wouldn't this year as we found out with the old set.) But, plugging in the new Cello, the picture keeps breaking up, due, according to the unhelpful manufactuers, that we 'are not on Digital yet.' Maybe...but why do our two existing TV's work just fine and not this new TV ? Have I been conned ?

mikeact: Difference of sensitivity of the tuner.

Don't read too much into websites and other things that tell you whether you are in an area where you can get a digital signal. They should be used as a guide only. This is because reception depends on many many factors, including troublesome trees and buildings, size of aerial etc.

Take the Cello set to the other aerial outlet and try it.

Was/does the old portable TV have digital? Or did you use it for digital with a set-top box?

i have connected a magic eye to the tv upstairs via a cable connected to the rf2 output in the sky hd box in living room and the picture is fuzzy. could it be needing a booster as the cable is 20m long? or do i have to change channel numbers?

allan hamilton: Try unplugging the aerial into the Sky box. If the fuzzy picture is as a result of using a channel that is used for digital transmissions in your area, then removing the aerial should reduce the level of interference.

If it doesn't affect it (i.e. it stays fuzzy), then perhaps it's loss in the 20m cable. It's probably best to use double screened cable if you haven't already done so.

tony: Lots of people are having the same problem and this has been the case since November. The signal for this group of services will be increased in power on 27th June.

Until then, try manually tuning to UHF channel 63 if your receiver allows.

robert knowd: There are coverage maps on the Where can I receive it? bit of the All about Freesat | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice page showing the dish sizes required.

Freesat boxes are probably a better option for you, rather than Sky.
