OK
Have worked it out
Tuned tv to new analogue channel . It automatically Gave it a channel number of 68. This is the only analogue channel. As Long as I don't press the menu button on the sky remote and just use the up and down keys and also back up to get back to menu, it all works.
Thanks

robin jermy: Nobody here can sort it out, we are not Sky or Virgin - you should phone them if you need help.

robin jermy - as Michael said this board, despite its name, is simply one man's website and discussion forum, and has nothing to do with any service provider.

Why are you dealing with Sky or Virgin?

Most people can get perfectly satisfactory service from Freeview and/or Freesat.

Hi, I'm a little confused... My ex has taken the current sky boxes & account with her to her new place but has lest the sky dish. I have an old white sky+ box with an original blue sky viewing card and have connected it all up. I can get quite a lot of channels & can also record some. Do I need to get a new card? Also do I need to connect the sky box to the phone line?
Thanks

Andy: A Sky box (any) does not really require a viewing card to operate unless the user of wishes to view programmes specific to a Sky package, because when no contract is in force all the card does is to enable the viewer to view the news channels appropriate to the area they reside in plus an odd free, but encrypted, channel e.g: Sony TV 157.

You may find that your ability to record programmes may possibly vanish as Sky will most likely disable the recording side of the box via an over air command, this being one of the first things they generally do when a contract is cancelled.

However, do not connect the box to the phone line unless you intend to take out another subscription.

Did your ex notify Sky of her move? because if not you will possibly be contacted by Sky once the fact of her box not being connected to the line is noticed as the box sends info to Sky on a regular basis with regards to viewing habits etc.

my sky programs BBC1 &2 ITV-3 Chan 4 & 5
are dropping out occasionally after flickering a few times. Sometimes the program comes back. It seems to coincide with the bad weather & heavy rain.Sky 1 HD-Sky living-Sky Atlantic etc are not affected
