No Signal problem
Hi, I inadvertently (stupidly) touched the cables leading to the sky+ box and I think it is now short circuited. It shows no signal, have tried all the options for no signal. Is there likely to be a fuse blown. Otherwise all the other functions, lights etc seems to be working as normal - just no signal being received.

Many thanks
Cedric

Cedric

It is possible you may have blown a fusible link, but to be more use it would help if you could tell us which box you have.

C38 (Quest) usually has no signal on my Sony DVD Recorder. I can do a retune and it will be there for a while. However; at those times it says "No Signal", I can go to the TV tuner and Channel 38 "Quest" is there. Both DVD Recorder and TV use the same high mounted external antenna pointed to Sandy Heath.

Mr R J Hammond: If you are referring to having accidentally short circuited the LNB connection leads then disconnect the box from the power supply for about 30 seconds before reconnecting it again, as the circuitry used to supply the power to the LNB power incorporates an electronic resettable trip switch and which hopefully will have saved the voltage regulator from being damaged.

Having at last found a circuit, I'm afraid it shows there are irrepairable fusible links feeding power to the connections via some circuitry used to control the polarity, etc. It could be that one of those has failed.
You could carefully try measuring the voltage, if any, on the input connections if you have a voltmeter to hand. When working it should show between 5 and 18 volts. If it shows zero then the links have failed.
You might try a local repair service but they may not be able to help much, or be rather more expensive than getting a replacement box, some goo refurbished ones are around on the internet.
