Channel Five to go HD on BSkyB - Media - guardian.co.uk reports that FIVE HD will be appearing for Sky HD subscribers, but the channel won't be on Freeview HD.

"Our programme schedule is more suited to HD than that any other major free-to-air commercial broadcaster given the wide range of high quality series we broadcast, such as our top-rated line-up of US dramas," said Charles Constable, Five's director of strategy. "We are delighted to begin our HD journey with Sky".

Seems a bit of a kick in the teeth to Freeview HD and Freesat HD, but the only explanation can be that Sky are offering the services at below the cost of Freeview.

FIVE HD might be on Freeview HD in 2012, but probably not.
