@briantist, Im an aerial and satellite installer in the scottish highlands and with sky's permission have been allowed to carry sky logo's ect on my advertising and van as im a sub contractor and also part of a "buddy" scheme. How do i go about gaining permission to use the freesat logo's on advertising ect. Im currently RDI but only as an associate.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi, ive got 3 sky boxes installed at present on subscription with sky, i have cancelled my sky subscription as of early july, i intend to just go freesat
my question is
will i be able to recieve freesat on the sky boxes once sky turns its service off, or do they get locked out by sky
and if they are unable to recive freesat can they be upgraded to recieve freesat

David: Sky offer a 'free' service (this is a hook to try to get you to subscribe or re-subscribe!) There are a few differences in the channel lists between Sky's free service and the BBC/ITV Freesat service. A 'free' Sky box still shows all the channels in the subscription service in the guide, you just can't watch them, while a Freesat box shows only the channels you can watch. You can compare the channels available at Compare TV | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Sky do disable the recording and time-shifting features of any Sky+ boxes you have. If you want those features without paying a subscription, you'd have to get a Freesat+ box. You also lose access to any previously-recorded programmes.

david: Sky boxes revert to be being "free to view" devices once a subscription is cancelled, you can check what you will be able to view by removing a card from one of the boxes thats presently in use, as all the channels you can view after having done that will remain the same.

Sky cannot turn off a Sky boxes normal reception of anything other than subscription only channels, or if a Sky+ box the recording / playback side of the box.

Alan:

The answer to that is NO.

All the random sub contractors stopped about 2 years ago.

they did use a company called AVC, all current AVC installers are being transferred over to sky direct and as from January will be using the same vans as sky.

So if you want to install sky then you need to get a job with them direct.

The generally only like to take on people who have zero experience so that you have no bad habits installing and can simply be moulded the way they want you to be.
