Paul: Check your signal strength and system - too high or low strength can cause breakup.

i had perfect reception of channel 12, Dave, from Waltham to NG13 (Grantham) until Feb 2018 changes - now it has gone. Re-tune? No good. Both my TVs, one through a digibox, are affected. What to do?

Jane Gater: Dave is on the COM5 multiplex which moved frequency at Mendip yesterday, so you will need to retune to restore the missing channels.

Trevor Palmer: If you are missing channels following a frequency change and retuning hasn't restored them, you should contact the Freeview Advice Line who will send some to fit a new aerial if required (free of charge if you don't have satellite or cable) - see Important changes to Freeview TV signals | Freeview

Hi,

After the recent changes, I had to retune my TV. by manually selecting the appropriate channel and then performing a search. Sometimes this procedure had to be repeated to access programs. I now have most available programs, but am unable to receive Dave.

I have a Samsung TV
My postcode is SN15 5EQ
My Arial is pointed at the Mendip transmitter..

I would appreciate your advice.

Thanks,

Jim McCune

James McCune: Dave is on the COM5 multiplex, which has moved to UHF channel 33. If you can't get it by manually tuning, contact the Freeview Advice Line and they will arrange for someone to visit you a fit a new wideband aerial (free of charge if you don't have satellite or cable). Ah I see it's something to do with multiplex com05, what's so special about this frequency? I can no longer get a whole load of channels but All the other multiplex are fine........why they done this? Anyone retuning or faffing about with their Ariel is wasting their time. You need a new Ariel by the look of it ggggggrrrrrrrrr

Daniel Worthy: ok people this works if your struggling after the Mendip retune of Feb 2018. Take out your Ariel from TV or box, retune and wait till it finishes with 0 channels found, then put Ariel back in and do tune again with a signal.......et viola, Dave, pick , E4+1 etc are back. Thanks to freeview chat help for this

Daniel Worthy:

That is what is often suggested by the technical contributors to this website if an initial retune does not resolve the issue. The retune made necessary by adjustments at Mendip simply required most people to do a full retune. It does not require any change to a domestic aerial system, though some communal aerial system have filters that may need adjusting.

Incidentally, the name 'Arial' refers to a type face, I think you mean an 'aerial' or an 'antenna'.
