From Wikipedia: The ITV1 brand was introduced by Carlton and Granada in 2001, alongside the regional identities of their eleven regional companies. However in line with other terrestrial channels, ITV1's audience share has fallen in the era of multi-channel television. ITV existed in a region-heavy form from its inception to the 2000s, although the switch was gradual. - en.wikipedia.org en.wikipedia.org link icon read more about ITV 1 (SD) on wikipedia (summary by Clipped).

John Fowler:

That means your TV has been tuned to the Wenvoe transmitter. There are several possible English regional sources around Bristol (for example at Ilchester Crescent, Kings Weston Hill, etc), so to help you find which is best for you we need you to provide a full post code please. Then we can see where you are in relation to those transmitters, which you can or can't receive and hence suggest how to resolve your problem.

Sean King: Your aerial is most likely pointed at the Emley Moor transmitter which broadcasts BBC & ITV Yorkshire regions. Your only option for East Midlands news would be Waltham, but signal strength would be much worse and you would probably loose reception of most of the commercial channels.

My aerial is directed to the Winter Hill transmitter but ITV channels have interference. I retuned and there is an improvement although the ITV channels are now Welsh and I prefer Granada.
Will I have to retune ? although the interference may be still there.
Please can you suggest what I should do. Thank you so much.

June Huertas: What do you actually mean by 'interference'? You might want to check which transmitter you are actually on, and we need to know what your postcode is.

June Huertas: Retuning was a bad idea and will never fix a problem with weak signal or interference (all you are doing is deleting the existing correctly tuned channels and searching for them again). Your TV has now locked on to one of the Welsh transmitters (probably Moel-Y-Parc which has a large overlap with the area covered by Winter Hill) so you'll need to retune again to find the signal from Winter Hill, but before you do that, check for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV.
