Wendy: Yes, if you had a Freeview+ box you will need to connect this up to record and pause. You won't be able to watch/record/play Freeview HD on such a box - you would need a Freeview+HD box for that.

Hi guys

Hoping someone can help me.

I rent a room in a house with sky in two other rooms in the house. There is a sky cable and box in my room from the previous housemate who used it. I don't have a tv so do not have it connected however I've bought a hauppauge dvb-s tuner for my macbook. The mac recognises the device but will not scan for channels (I'm using The Tube). Tested it downstairs and it works fine. Does the cable in my room get disconnected because sky is only in the other rooms?

Thank you

Ed: The only way to see if the cable is connected to anything is to trace it out.
