How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.

Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan

  1. Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.

  2. Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.

  3. Check cables and connectors are in good order.
  4. Wait for at least 30 seconds.
  5. With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
  6. Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
  7. Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
  8. Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
  9. Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB

If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.
  1. Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]

On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]

Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu".

  2. Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
  3. Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
  4. Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
  5. Press [SKY].
  6. Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
  7. Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
  8. Press [SKY].

Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software

If there are still problems:

  1. Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
  2. Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
  3. Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message – this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.

  4. Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
  5. Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
  6. Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
  7. Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
  8. Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

Hi

My old sky+ box died completely and i replaced it with a used Amstrad box from ebay.

I have noticed today that when i record on sky+ some channels get interference. The ones affected seem to be Ch5, Sky sports 4, Sports news, history & military channels.

I never had any problems at all with my old Thomson box and the signal strength and quality seem strong when i test it.

Is it likely that the Amstrad box is the problem before i replace it with a new HD box.

Thanks for any help in this matter

Mark Aberfan Aerials: The biggest problem is not really news, as no one really watches Sky News, but financial trickery used to keep a grip on sports and movie channels.

Des: Try "Method (2)" above, if that doesn't fix it then yes, the box probably has a fault.

Thanks for the info. I've tried step 2 but problem still exists. It confirms my suspicions that it was the box at fault.

Hi, I live in an apartment block and have had Sky for over two years now.....through the two years we have had various problems with losing the signal, picture pixellating etc and I have made contact with Sky who have replaced various boxes and wires all to no avail. Sky then gave me HD as my apartment only has one feed and they said because they can swith off the second feed it would fix my problems yet it only seems to have made it worse. I keep losing picture signal however my line input shows excellent quality. I only tend to lose it on Sky Sports 1,2,4 new HD and Sky Sports 1,3,4 news along with a number of different channels. I have tried everything you have said, had a Sky Engineer out to look at the dish and reciever and he states everything is okay with them, had the box replacedand so on and so on.....its becoming very frustrating as it seems to be totally random when it occurs such as 1130pm tonight is the last time however two days ago was the last time before that and weekends seem to be when its at its worse!!! Any ideas on what to do please? We have had HD for 5 months now

Des: It would seem to. You will need a Sky+HD box for Sky, but you can always use a Freesat+HD box if you want to come off subscription.

Had this one before with flats fitted with single output systems, if you use a sky+ they seem to act up a lot, try fitting a single input or standard sky box, it seems to happen when you flick through channels a lot, don't know if sky will bring you one if you tell them what's happening, apart from that the only thing it can be is the system fitted to the block is faulty in some way, have you talked to other people in the block about it
