Have been unable to receive CH4 (Analogue) since Saturday 4th June 2011. Have retuned tv but still without success. There is a very fuzzy picture (not watchable) and sound is normal. Have perfect reception on BBC1, BBC2 and ITV1. Have phoned CH4 and emailed problem on the BBC reception website. Still waiting for a reply. There seems to be no reported engineering work currently in progress and 'no problems' on the Lulworth transmitter. Other people in village reporting same problem. Can you advise. (The digital switchover can't come soon enough!) .

Mr J Chalmers:

I got a similar problem with several other channels including Film4 over the weekend.

It seems to have righted itself now.

I have the advantage of tuning into my Freesat system when the Freeview starts to play up.

TV regions overview

On your 'TV regions overview map', Torosay transmitter is not shown in the correct location. It seems to be where Cow Hill is.

George Buchanan: The transmitter locations have been provided by the BBC and cross-referenced with Ofcom...

Well, the location of Torosay as supplied by the BBC is plain wrong or I am going mad. It's shown on my screen as at Fort William but that's where Cow Hill is. Torosay is about 30 miles south west of that on the Isle of Mull - opposite the town of Oban.

In fact, clicking on the underlined Torosay link in my previous posting takes you to a map showing the correct location (roughly), although it's actually closer towards Oban than shown.

George Buchanan: Oh right, I can see what the confusion is. The transmitter shown for a particular transmitter region is the one with the highest number of homes covered by the transmitter, which in this case is the Cow Hill transmitter with 5000 homes, verses Torosay with just 2800.

The marker is not for a particular transmitter on the regional maps, but to indicate the region. The BBC and ITV symbols, where shown are also ofset from these.
