Mike Incles: Check for single frequency interference on C49. You mention that you are high up, I wonder if you are receiving a signal from Sudbury which changed the frequency of the SDN mux to C49 on 6th July 2011.What is your postcode?- so a check can be made on the trade predictor of what you are expected to be able to receive at your location.

KMJ,Derby: It appears that the Sudbury transmission on C49 was restricted to the west to protect Oxford C5, and that this may have been done by transmitting out-of-phase signals from the lower aerial panels on the west side of the 'digital' mast in addition to the main signals from the top of that mast.

There was no restriction on Mux A before switchover, so it's possible that the out-of-phase signals providing the restriction are no longer transmitted - if that's how it was done.

Information sources: Sudbury Transmitter (note MUX3 = Mux A in this table), U.K. Television Stations (UHF Digital System) for aerial heights which indicate that there was a contribution from both arrays for Mux 1 and B, and the pictures at mb21 - The Transmission Gallery .

Mike Dimmick: It would be very interesting to see the radiation patterns for Sudbury, which due to a shortage of frequencies together with a need to deliver a signal strong enough to give reasonable coverage in the face of possible interference from the continent has led to more complicated arrangements for serving the area than would normally be necessary. It would not be surprising if any restriction to protect C5 from Oxford has been lifted with the Oxford switchover only a few weeks away.

I live in London NW5 and cannot get the channels on multiplex 2 ITV1, More4 etc. I believe I had these channels until the other day.

I have done a complete retune but to no avail.

What now, please?

KMJ Derby. Thanks for the info. My postcode is NN17 2LQ. Everything else comes in "to perfection" ( as did C49 carrying BBC 1 East Midlands till around the 6th July ). Maybe I should wait for the Waltham "re-set" in August. Anyway, thanks for your reply. Much appreciated.

Is there any known reason why Ch 50 (706mhz)programmes on the Fortrose & Rosemarkie transmitter are running with such a poor signal quality & error rate? All other channels from the same transmitter are sitting @ 100% quality signal, but 706mhz channels are unwatchable due to poor signal quality. I have a clear uninterrupted line of sight to the transmitter.

Alan Pryde: If you have that type of reception issue, then the problem isn't with the transmitter! Please see Single frequency interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Since I re-tuned for the Olympics I lose BBC1 & BBC2 when I switch off. If I re-tune again they come back until I switch off, then they are lost again.
Any ideas??

Keighley

Hello, I live in the bd20 6ha area of Keighley,
ever since the changeover in May BBC C49 seems to come and go at will, when we do receive C49 its full signal and very good quality, turn over to ITV or any channel and back again BBC go's. The Aerial, cable, and fittings are all new as is the T.V. Done everything retuned with Aerial out then back in,manual tune, but the problem still persists .
All the other channels are OK it's only C49 that's the problem
