Felixstowe will be OFF-AIR from midnight. It is expected to be up-and-running again by mid-morning (the advice to installers says 9am). Ensure that the transmitter is fully running again before tuning in your digital box.

You can find progress reports at Digital UK - Relay transmitter switching times .

Sorry Mark, gave you duff info. Felixtowe has gone digital. I do not quite understand your point, though, if you have no box!
I am at a loss to know where you are getting weak analogue from. I have checked the channels used by suspects--Dover, Bluebell Hill, Ips, Wood, and none uses the analogue freuencies formerly used by Felixtowe. Have you perhaps retuned to see what you can get? Whatever it is, it will be poor.
The local relays only carry major channels. The rubbish ones have to pay to use the service and don't bother because the audience is small.
Much the best option here is to invest in a freesat recorder.
Regards to Anita.

nick:Alternatively, if you see horizontally polarised aerials unlike your vertical one on nearby houses, they are on Sudbury and you could be too, with a high gain aerial, preferably on a long pole

I live in the Felixtowe IP11 2UB area close to the Port. Last year I bought a new Digital TV complete with Freeview and invested in a new Highgain digital aerial on the roof in time for the switchover in July this year. All went well at the switchover and i picked 80+ digital tv & radio channels. However for the last couple of weeks we have lost ALL channels for practically all the day. Would appreciate your advice on what to do next or who i should complain to about this problem. I thought the digital changeover was meant to improve our viewing now we have nothing!

I seem to have lost some channels over the last couple of weeks. My aerial is on the roof.I have tried the reset procedure but it has not improved things. It is a new TV. My postcode is IP11 7HY.

I cannot now get Freeview 15, 10, 24, 11, 19

Margaret: If you are referring to programmes like ITV3 etc then that's quite correct, as the Felixstowe transmitter is classed as a "light" one meaning that only three Mux channels are broadcast, one of being the HD service, with the reason for programmes such as the one mentioned not being broadcast being purely because the commercial interests involved weren't willing to pay for the Multiplex operating costs.

I had a check at the reception predictor for your post code area, unfortunately no alternatives are really shown as being possible except for maybe Sudbury mid 2012, even then its shown as being variable and as such could not really be relied upon.

Freesat being your only option for 99.9% guaranteed reliability.

I wonder if you might know to whom I can complain about the channels missing on these 'light' transmitters? We are shortly going to have a similar problem with Aldeburgh. Even though it covers a wide area, it is to lack ITV 3 and 4, yet give us Rabbit and Gay Rabbit.
The powers that be have a reprehensible set of priorities.
