To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Limited channels on Freeview (BTVision) from Larkstoke transmitter?
Did full channel scan and cleared EPG but no better and showing weak or low signal for most channels except BBC and ITV?
This site says no problems with Larkstoke transmissions, so anyone any ideas?
Thanks

Tony: If you have a shared aerial system and everyone is missing the same multiplexes then you should probably contact whoever manages the system and ask them to fix the problem, as it could be that the system has separate amplifiers for each channel and needs reconfiguring.

You have not provided a postcode it's a bit hard to say more.

Hey Brian, the postcode for the accommodation is B47XE. I asked one of my friend who lives in a different block/flat and he said that he's receiving all of the channels. I'm going to ask him to give me his aerial cable to see if that makes any difference.

Tony: If it's a shared aerial, get in touch with your landlord or agent. See PARAS - Professional Aerial Riggers Against The Sharks for some more ideas of who to talk to.

The system may need recalibrating or retuning, depending on what sort of system it is. D3&4 should have been OK, though, as it uses BBC One's old channel - I would have expected problems on the commercial multiplexes (SDN, ArqA and ArqB) as they use channels that have never previously been used at Sutton Coldfield.

If you have a Sky box, or something else with an RF output, check that the RF output isn't anywhere near any of the multiplexes. You might get this problem if it was on C37, I suppose, because signals at N+1, N+5 and N+9 are typically affected, though I would expect BBC A to have problems as well. I'd look at putting an RF output somewhere in the C21-C30 range or up at C52-C60.
