Why are the commercial channels from the relay mast at Cymmer Port talbot losing signals & breaking up. I have three TVs running off three different aerials & the three sets are affected. It is a bit much as we don`t even recieve all the channels, so much for digital & freeveiw.

G. Thomas: Please forgive my lack of knowledge of your local area. What is the transmitter you are referring to? Can you post your post code and the direction of your aerials?

Most relays do not carry the commercial channels, so if your receivers are picking them up, then it might not be from the transmitter you refer to.

Port Talbot : Dave Lindsay is correct. Because of local topography, there are four low-power relays in the Port Talbot area. You have probably been receiving the full range of broadcasts from Kilvey Hill, Preseli and/or Wenvoe. Research this website to find the channels for each of these main transmitters which might reach your location. You would then need to experiment by tuning in each channel/multiplex separately (not automatic search or tuning!) and possibly to re-orient your roof-top aerial to point to the main transmitter providing the best signal.

can you please advise on the followingon
After about 5/6 hours continous viewing a message appears say that the t.v will turn off to keep it on press any button on the remote it would seem that is not the T.V as other people are having the same problem in the area served by the Wenvoe Transmitter

A.J.CURRY: This is the "auto standby" facility on your television set.

Check in the TV's menus to turn it off.

On the LG that I have here you do this by pressing MENU then selecting TIME and AUTOMATIC STANDBY and then choosing OFF.

This has nothing do with Freeview or any transmitter.

A.J.Curry - Oddly enough I had to do that to my in-laws new TV the other day. There was an eco setting somewhere in the menus which turned it off after x hours of non-activity (where x could be defined as 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. hours).

julie: Your location is indicated as only being able to receive Freeview "light" PSB only transmissions, that meaning the BBC & ITV range of channels as well as the HD service.

Needless to say there is nothing you can really do to change things, unless that is by deciding to go over to Freesat as that's the only way you will receive a full service.
