Ron Lake: The IBA hasn't existed for 20 years. It was replaced in 1990 by the Independent Television Commission, itself replaced by the Office for Communications, Ofcom, in 2003.

Ofcom have the power to require a new Technical Plan from the multiplex operator when the licence is up for renewal, requiring additional coverage. They renewed Mux A (SDN) in 2010 and have just renewed Mux C and D (ArqA/B), to run from 2014, without making use of this power. Speculating, they may have decided that it's better to renew on current coverage levels rather than require more and risk the operator deciding not to renew. There's no guarantee that another operator would be prepared to take it on, either.

The licences run for 12 years. Outside the renewal period, Ofcom can only vary the licence with the agreement of the multiplex operator. Changing that would require a change in the law, so actually, your MP is probably the best bet.

This may also fall into 'be careful what you wish for'. Extending the commercial muxes from additional transmitters may mean that other relays have to be retuned, or put up with more interference, or shut down entirely.

I quick question on MultiPlex's after looking over the stations on mux. I have noticed that there is no ITV3 (channel 10) on your listings. Is this a mistake or am i seeing things.

richard caywood: ITV3 appears as though it may be missing from all transmitter pages on this site. I checked Hannington, Stockland Hill and Sudbury and ITV3 is not shown.

It should be given as the first service on COM4: SDN.

Briantist, can you shed any light on this?

Mike Dimmick, Thanks for the info on current authority. I used what I knew was the IBA simply to differentiate between the Independents and the BBC. Much obliged for the update.

David Mansell, Please refer to Mike's post.

David Parker, Failing any reply from Brian or other knowledgable posters on here, I would be inclined to 'Google' Technika STBHDIS2010 and see if there is any info about it relative to this problem. I reckon your threat of the bin would have worked better with my wife than with your box, although both are inanimate objects which cause problems haha.

David Parker, Sorry to hear of your loss in such a way, mine ran off with my best friend (whoever he is), enough said about that.

Yes, please do google and select AV Forums. I can not say anything on here about what I found as a certain supermarket chain may want to sue, but DO have a read, it's very enlightening.

This applies to anyone else with this particular box.
