Boxes that do not support both 2k and 8k modes

Some boxes are having problems during switchover supporting both modes at the same times:

  • Sharp TU-R160H
  • Humax 9200T
  • Thomson DTi 1000

The workaround appears to be to add the "8k" channel manually (C62 for Selkirk, for example) and then to do this procedure after switchover is complete: My Freeview box has no EPG, is missing Film4, Channel 4+1, no sound on ITV3 or the channel line up is wrong - ukfree.tv - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002

This is on top of the boxes that could not cope with the changes to the Network Information Table (NIT): Daewoo DS608P, Labgear DTT100, Triax DVB 2000T, Portland DP100 and these VCR/STBs: Daewoo SV900, Bush IDVCR01

I have an LG (Life's Good) Freeview + DVD Recorder with HDD No RHT497H & Alba TV LCD19880HDF which are hooked up together. If I record a programme on the LG I use the Alba remote to switch to the TV to watch another channel. Can I continue to use my equipment in the same way? Do I have to re-tune each piece of equipment seperately? Both equipment is under 5 years old, so will I have to replace? I am a pensioner, not technologically minded, so please keep it simple.

Alys Swan-Jackson: If you are aware that a switchover event has taken place at whatever station covers your area (you not having mentioned your location) then yes you will have to re-tune each of the devices used or you are liable to lose channels.

As far as the operation of your equipment is concerned, nothing will change.

By the way, if after re-scanning should you have a query on reception then your post code (or one of close by) should really be provided, this for purposes of signal checking in your area.

Hi, Since the retune on 21st march I have lost my Film 4 and several other programmes. I have retuned several times, with and without an aerial plugged in. No joy. I have tried manually inputting as suggested by the digital switchover team - no joy. My TV is a Samsung Series 6 with built in freeview. What can I do ?

Hi all
I also have the same problem as Ant. I have a Bush set top box, has anyone any ideas as to why the set top box isn't holding the channels??? and once the message is on the screen (auto retune request)you cant do anything with it unless you retune!!!!!even after retuning and being able to watch a programme for 3 mins the message appears again..... I have done all of the restore to factory settings, take out the ariel, unplug from the mains.....ect ect !!! could it be the box it's self...

Since switchover this morning the picture on my lovely freeview tv is not as clear as it used to be- it seems duller and foggier than yesterday. Will it normalise. The other small set in the bedroom has a Daewoo digibox and that seems not to work at all. It does not appear to be one of the listed ones above. I presume I can live without it but I would like to get my clear picture back on the living room tv which up till today had a very bright clear screen. Please and you help?
