The symbol shows the location of the Mendip (Somerset, England) transmitter which serves 720,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Mendip (Somerset, England) mast?

jb38 - Thank for your reply.
When I go into manual scan I get 61,58,54,48 and 52 - all showing 100% signal strength, but no 56. Maybe it is something local. I live in an apartment block, so will get the management agent to check out the incoming transponders here. Seem to remember a problem when the last stage of the switchover was made, but all channels re-appeared then, after a week on their own. Thanks again.

Malcolm Brooks: I'm also experiencing as you've described (no-show on C56 only). I'm on the west side of Swindon (limit of Mendip coverage), so it could be a maintenance issue as I could receive all muxes prior to the freq change & power boost.

Just retuned my mico stb231 freeview box and notice that bbc3&4 are flaky now, is there an obvious reason for this. All station that were flaky before pwr increase now seem to be stable.

Hi, I am wondering if the channel list above is correct. It is showing Really as on CH 52, when I manually tune CH 52 it does not appear but does on CH 56. I am at BA22 tuning in to Mendip.
Thanks
John

John: Clicking the link next to your posting for Digital UK Tradeview confirms that the above is in fact incorrect. ArqA is on C56 and ArqB on C52, and not the other way around as shown.

Sorry, pressed enter before I'd finished! I have re-tuned 2 or 3 times each day this week, and just finished again. Utterly ridiculous.

If you look at the bit just above the map of the mendip coverage area map, you can see that there is engineering work taking place and that mendip is subject to weak signals. I live in BS22 in Weston-super-Mare and have had a very poor signal strength all week. But I've heard from one of my dads mates who is in the aerial trade that it should all settle down by the end of Friday.

so that's 2 weeks without a decent signal? Oddly enough, the signal may be terrible, but since the last tune-up we have a few more channels like Quest - all terrible reception too of course; this happen just after Xmas when the wind blew the aerial about a bit. I think 2 weeks without being able to watch a TV I pay a license for, without any explanation (other than on here, not everybody in my building has a computer - many are old and frail and rely upon their TV)is ridiculous in this day and age. Thank heavens for TV Catchup!
Going to get the landlord to send aerial people out anyway, make sure the aerial's in the right position yet again.

Hi

Is there a box/adapter that would allow me to use an existing satellite dish receiving freesat to convert it to free view signal. Just move into a house with satellite dish wired to all rooms but I have a tv that has built in free view.
