dumberanddumberstill: Usual reason for the box not responding is because one of the "other" buttons at the top of the remote(TV, DVD, Audio) has been pressed. Normal operation resumes when the PVR button is pressed (putting the remote back into "PVR" control mode).
Other possibility is the box needs to be switched off at the mains for a few seconds and then switched back on again.

Hi guys
I bought a foxsat hdr 500gb a couple of weeks ago,i connected it to a spare dish pointed at 19.2E and managed to tune in 425 free to air channels.HD channels are excellent.
Is it possible to control a motorised dish and
tune in all satellites?

cheers
paul.

We could not get our Humax Foxsat HD box to accept our postcode on a Freesat retune. We had to have a tree opposite lopped as it was blocking the signal. Once lopped I did the retune and it came up with invalid postcode. Tried all variations but did not matter which postcode I put in . Annoying as we wanted our regional programmes not every single channel going. So in the end I took the box back to factory settings as if starting from scratch and hey presto it accepted our rural postcode no problem. So we have our regional Yorkshire programmes plus loads more. Problem sorted.

blondie: Freesat boxes ask for the post code only so as to select regional services.

Where a postcode is not recognised or where it gives regional programming other than that which the user wants, then simply enter another postcode that is within the desired region.

patrick mcgurk: You should completely disconnect the box from the mains supply, then after reconnecting same again check if this has rectified the HDMI problem, if not press "menu" and select "first time installation", this possibly being on option 2 depending on the model.

I have just bought a blu-ray sound system to add to my Humax freesat recorder. The sound is much better than from the tele but as soon as I watch a HD channel I loose all sound. My freesat is connected to my sound system with a digital optical cable n a HDMI to the tele. I have no problems with sound from the tele speakers when watching HD channels and the sound system works fine with the rest of the channels but as soon as I switch to a HD channel it goes all quiet? What have I missed?!?

ted: You can't, it's only available from full Freeview transmitters on or via a subscription to Sky.

ted: Is this a satellite box (Freesat) or a terrestrial one (Freeview)?

As Michael says, if it's satellite then you can't because Yesterday is only available on satellite via Sky's subscription service.

It is only available from full-Freeview transmitters, i.e. those that carry the Commercial (COM) channels.

The Newhaven relay does not carry COM channels. Only "if" you can receive from Whitehawk Hill (adjacent to Brighton Racecourse) or Rowridge on the Isle of Wight might you be in with a shot.
