Jean: In which case then it's likely to be your communal aerial system which requires adjustment for which you will have to speak to the party responsible.

For reference, according to my Humax HD's signal test menu:

Ch49: Signal 80%, Quality 100%
Ch50: Signal 80%, Quality 100%
Ch55: Signal 77%, Quality 100%
Ch58: Signal 76%, Quality 100%
Ch59: Signal 76%, Quality 100%

Oddly, Ch54 (HD) shows no signal no quality, yet is working perfectly. It shows similar signals to above on channel banner though.

So for me, the signal strength on the two problem channels appears to be higher. They are certainly not broadcasting at lower power!

My Panasonic TV (non-HD) shows all channels at 10/10 for signal and quality.

My guess is that 49/50 is being blocked for some, either by a misconfigured communal aerial or by some other box, like a VCR that is still outputting an analogue signal around Ch49/50.

It's pretty clear that some people are receiving a weak or non-existent signal from Winter Hill on Channel 50 - myself included.
I've just re-tuned an elderly neighbour's digital tv for her and it's now fine. My own tv is a 13 year old (but perfectly adequate up until now) JVC analogue set, used in conjunction with a one-year-old Panasonic Freeview recorder, and no amount of retuning attempts (auto or manual) or removing the aerial, make any difference.
It looks as though I'm going to have to buy a new digital tv, and/or a new aerial, or switch to satellite or cable (none of which I want or feel that I ought to be compelled to do).
It would be useful to know if the age of the tv or aerial is a common denominator amongst those who still can't get BBC tv and radio stations, despite following all the re-tuning advice.

Just thought i would let you all know i have managed to get back all the BBC channels. Did a manual search in the 800mhz band and then tried auto chan search, hey presto all back! Have been trying unsuccessfully for two days now!! very frustrating indeed. Thanks winter hill engineers.

I'm pleased that worked for you, but I've just tried a manual search from 802.0 MHz (CH62) to 850.0 MHz (CH68), which as far as I can go, and get the "no channels found" message.

I'm still none the wiser why some solutions appear to work for some people but not others!

David Rogers: C61 to C68 have been cleared of TV services to make way for 4G.

If the obvious rescan doesn't work, is there a "hard" reset that is worth a try. Granted, this may reset all settings, but if it's the only other thing you can try then it is worth a shot.

Thanks Dave, but I've already tried a hard reset, with no success.

If the 800 MHz band equates to channels that have already been cleared, I don't know why it seemed to do the trick for geeman?

Confusing!
