Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Camlough (Northern Ireland) mast?

No problems on any service. BBC

UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

Does anyone know if there are any plans to add the independent network to the Camlough DAB transmitter (which also carries Radio Ulster) or even to the Rostrevor transmitter? Recently when carrying out a scan my Roberts DAB radio has started to 'detect' some of the commercial stations but the signal is not quite strong enough to enable reception.

Patrick: I typed <<dab northern ireland>> into Google and the first link that came up was:

Ofcom | Extending DAB Services in Northern Ireland - Request to extend coverage area of national radio multiplex service

I believe that Ofcom has recently been consulting on improvement to regional and local DAB multiplexes.

Patrick: As Camlough transmits Radio Ulster on FM it is reasonable to assume that before any FM switch-off can occur the DAB coverage of the Northern Ireland multiplex will have to be improved to ensure that Radio Ulster continues to be available to listeners who currently enjoy good reception on FM.

Dave Lindsay: The link you found is one for a proposal from Digital One to transmit the UK national network from six transmitter sites in Northern Ireland, a bit more cherry picking of the sites which serve the most populated areas.

KMJ,Derby: Thanks for pointing that out. As you may have gathered, I didn't look the contents before posting the link.

Thanks for your replies :-) The New Digital One transmitters started transmitting today but unfortunately the Camlough transmitter is not yet included. I wait in hope of getting the full service and Radio Ulster on DAB some day.

Just an update as of 12th July 2016 now receiving Radio Ulster, Downtown etc. on a portable dab radio I presume from the local Camlough transmitter. I had read elsewhere of planned upgrades to be completed before end of September 2016.
