The symbol shows the location of the Brougher Mountain (Northern Ireland) transmitter which serves 36,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Brougher Mountain (Northern Ireland) mast?

Thank's for the reply Dave'It is Group A Aerials that are being used Horizontally by these homes for Brougher as stated, before we were getting all or most of the program's at 500 Watts it seem's now we have lost everything except for Mux22 and 28 which was only achieved by useing a Group A filter and still getting overspill from Lisbellaw Mux49 and 54

I live just outside Cavan Town in Republic of Ireland and have very poor reception on the PSB1 Mux (intermittantly it can be perfect) however I get perfect reception on the PSB2 Mux.

I cannot receive any channels on the other Mux's.

I re-scan daily but no change.

Any ideas?

Oh!, fault on my recorder found to block all received signals. Had to do some disconnecting of leads to locate fault. Strong signal on 24 confused me, so please ignore report. Cliff.

The difference in power between Brougher PSBs & COMs isn't anywhere near enough to cause problems with adjacent channel operation.

I live in McCrea Park, Clogher. I can receive the main channels BBC, UTV but other channels can be very pixelated. Other houses have the same problem.
Is this a transmitter problem? Brougher Mountain?

S Owens: No. It is intended unfortunately.

The Public Service (PSB) channels carry BBC, UTV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and a few others. Their objective, as the name implies, is to provide a public service and their coverage is as the former four-channel analogue.

The Commercial (COM) channels which carry ITV3, ITV4, Pick TV, Dave, Film4 and others fit in where they can and don't have as wide a reach as the PSBs.

In the case of Brougher Mountain its PSBs are radiated at a power of 20kW and the COMs are 2kW. The reason for the lower powered COMs is because they are co-channel (same frequencies) as Divis' PSBs. So if you and your neighbours aren't suffering because of the lower power, the interference from Divis might be the issue.

Unfortunately the only other transmitter you "might" (I emphasise "might") be in with a shot of receiving the COMs from is Divis. The issue is that you might find that its PSBs are variable or unavailable due to Brougher's co-channel (low power) COMs.

S Owens: As a bodge it might be worth manually tuning to UHF channels 23, 26 and 29 which are the three COM channels of Divis, so as to see if they can be picked up off the back of your aerial. When you go to the manual tune screen, enter or select the channel numbers but don't press the button to scan straight away, instead wait and see if it gives any indication of strength and quality.

S Owens: Bring up the signal strength screen on the following three and see whether they are tuned to Brougher or Divis:

COM4:ITV3 | Brougher=C21 | Divis=C23
COM5:Pick TV | Brougher=C24 | Divis=C26
COM6:Film4 | Brougher=C27 | Divis=C29
