Judith Ralph: Isle of Wight here (PO33 Ryde): I've just retuned because I lost everything from Hanninton and now I've got Midlands local news. Sort of ties in with the weather excuses.

I have had problems for months, had a new aerial fitted and no improvement. Generally seems to be OK during the day but lose it completely in the evenings. Even BBC lost signal yesterday. I am tucked in below the Marlborough Downs in SN8

Chris:

Was your new aerial fitted by a professional??

I would question any fitter who puts an aerial on a house if they cannot get the required signal strength and quality for it to work correctly.

Been having issues here (SP5 1) for about the last ten days.
Currently have good signal on PSB1 ans PSB2 but nothing at all on com 4 and com 5. Last night even PSB 1 dropped out at about 9.45PM.
There must be a fault somewhere, as all these people can't have duff equipment!!

SO24 0RE. Aerial on roof attached to chimney with booster in attic.

We have lost signal on and off since Tuesday 24th September and are unable to watch anything at all this evening. We have repeatedly retuned without success.

Clearly because of all the negitivity about signal either the mighty God has reduced so called high pressure weather interference or those mucking about have received high pressure to cut it out. All appears to be OK now.

GU34 was poor last night and recovered this evening when it started breaking up again at 11pm. Phoned an aerial installer this morning and he said he has had many calls. This has never happened before so I can't see how it is to do with high pressure.

What a shame. So much wasted time and money due to the high pressure and nobody informing the public. In the good old days broadcasters would have cared about this and they used to announce the unusual weather/atmospherics hence saving all the stress.
It would seem odd to me for this to have carried on for almost a week with not a dickybird. I used to be a transmitter engineer and Hannington took its feed off air from Rowridge. It sounds as if Hannington is loosing this feed as the interference is incoming to the transmitter. Folks are complaining using both transmitters.

It puzzles me why the broadcaster would want to keep their customers in the dark.
Come on you guy's. Get your act together!
Come back Engineering information with openness and honesty! Or, at least stick a caption up to save all this wasted time, money & effort.

Yes you guessed. I once worked in Engineering Information where we were proud to keep people informed of situations like this. but..... It was privatised and now we have.......

That feels better. At least I got it off my chest. Thanks UKfree.

INFORMATION :)

I have had a customer this week who has had minor issues for some time, like others has had major issues this week.

I went there on Thursday and all was working apart from the minor issues they previously had which was down to a very very old aerial.

Fitted a new aerial on this house with a new amp and also 4G filter.

I asked them to monitor the reception and checked back in with them today.

They have had zero issues, all minor issues gone and more importantly when all you others have been having major issues they have had perfect reception.

Obviously the new aerial fixed the minor issues they was getting but other than that they should have still been getting major issues when everyone else did if this was down to the transmitter.

Could the difference actually be that they have a 4G filter fitted, not really sure what the role out currently is on the 4G transmission.

Just an idea but maybe some of you should get a local installer to do a free signal test :)

regards
