I am a painter based in Newcastle and have exhibited widely in the region and beyond. I have also been involved as an artistic consultant for public venues, eg, the newly refurbished Whitley Bay Playhouse, and a new Jazz venue at the Globe in Newcastle.
The subject of my painting is not locally based - I don't do Tyne Bridges etc, but I was wondering if, at some time, you do features on artists living in the region you might be interested in some of my work, Examples are on my website with other information about my practice, commissions etc.

My name is Rob Gair and I am a committee member of the Durham Musical Theatre Company.I would very
much like to contact somebody at Made in Tyne and Wear to discuss the possibility of letting the people of the North east know what productions are coming up and the opportunities we have for would be actors, singers, dancers and back stage staff. If someone could contact me on 0191 3849304 I would be very grateful. Lots of people can't read that this site has nothing to do with Made in Tyne and Wear, or any other broadcaster for that matter.

(1) In this village most people get their TV from Fenham transmitter. Is MadeinTyneandWear likely to be available from there in the future?
(2) Are subtitles for hard of hearing likely to be made available?

Stan Smith: In answer to your questions:

1. I found this page from 2012 which says that Made in Tyne and Wear would like to transmit from Fenham in order to improve coverage:

Made Television wins again: Tyne & Wear Local TV Licence awarded

2. I'm not sure about subtitles, I don't know whether there are any such obligations. I know that people have complained on here about some of the commercial Freeview channels having poor or no subtitles.

For both questions, I suggest you direct them to the broadcaster. Then report back here what they say as that might help others with the same query.

Like the idea of a local tv company but I think the sound quality is not the best, I wear hearing aids and am usually fine listening and watching tv. There seems to be too much lower register. Also music was being played over one of the productions and drowned out the voices. Other than that very interesting.

Michael Watson:

We need a full post code to be able to consider what may be the cause, Giles Gate / Durham is not accurate enough to get specific details of transmitter, reception conditions, terrain, etc - all of which we use to seek possible causes of your problem.
