No ITV or Channel 4 service from 4pm 20AUG until 8.30pm 21AUG.
No BBC channels from 11.15pm until 11.55pm 23AUG
No BBC channels since 4.30pm today 24AUG

What is going on? When do you anticipate that adequate service will be resumed?

Pass this message to an English speaking person with authority and the ability to rectify this ongoing aggravating and appalling service.

Graham Smith: I share your pain- getting freeview to admit there IS a fault takes some doing and then alk they can bleat is " have you retuned?"-it is just shabby- we had problems a couple of days ago and it would have been quicker if I'd gone up there with my pozedrive myself!

Christine Green: The problem experienced with reception from the Ventnor transmitter is not necessarily caused by a fault on same, but possibly as the result of the engineering work which is presently being carried out at the Rowridge transmitter, the station having had a "possible weak signal" notification in operation for the last two weeks now.

The PSB signal from the Rowridge transmitter is already restricted to the South, and if the "over air" signal received by Ventnor from Rowridge drops under a certain level the Ventnor transmitter is liable to drop out, this I suspect, as possibly being the real reason for the problem.

jb38: thanks yes have bbc back now but for how long?- spoke to Freeview yesterday and they told me Ventnor was off air-it was the first time they actually confirmed there was a problem at all ! And that they didn' t know what was causing it- I have been banging my head against a brick wall for past couple of weeks getting anyone to confirm there were any issues, and been told to retune or even to get an engineer,so this felt like a victory , anyway I hope its the end of it
