P R Williamson: Advice on reception problems is totally dependent on a persons location being known, this info preferably given in the form of a post code or one from nearby, such as a shop/post office.

However, if your sister resides within the coverage area of the Sutton Coldfield transmitter? (your posting being under this heading) then please note that engineering work is presently taking place at this station, a notice warning of a "possible weak signal" having been posted on the engineering page.

If your sister "rebooted" her TV or box whilst the signal was down, (or weak) then this might possibly be the reason why the multiplex referred to was not captured by the tuner, therefore she should try carrying out another auto-tune in order to restore things to normal, that is unless its bad timing again!, the main thing being for her to try retuning at regular intervals until the multiplex is picked up again.

Should though by any chance you sister reside outwith the Sutton Coldfield coverage area, then please provide her location.

G: Although engineering work has indeed been taking place at Sutton Coldfield, however, nothing to this effect is indicated on this weeks notice board.

If you are still experiencing problems with reception, have you ascertained if others in your area are being affected in a similar fashion?

G: Further to that said, the reply given is based on you actually receiving Freeview from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter and "not" it's Brierley Hill relay, engineering work still in progress at this station, albeit that no problems with reception have been reported, as yet!

I am having real problems in Stafford. I get my signal from Sutton Coldfield according to Freeview website.

The reception keeps disappearing for 20 minutes at a time and the signal strength at times is only as good as 14%. Some nights I lose all channels that are tuned in and have to just mute the crackle and wait until something comes back on. This has now been going on for at least a week.

REALLY getting tiresome.

Is anyone else reporting issues with the Sutton Coldfield Tx? We are at WR 14 4NA and usually get a good signal on all channels but now have nothing showing on PSB3 or LB multiplexes. TV and radio channels on other frequencies seem good. No engineering work seems to be reported but something has changed since earlier today. (Annoyingly just after the Rugbymatch started!)

It has been suggested that the recent warm days have given rise to atmospheric conditions that can disrupt TV reception. As there are many similar reports from around the southern part of England, that would seem to be quite likely. Do NOT retune your TV set under such situation.

Stewart:

LCN (logical channel number) 82 was Sky News but is being changed over to be True Christmas, see

True Christmas | Freeview
There is a link provided on that page to check coverage in your area. Not all tranmitters will carry the service, they say only 'major towns and cities' will get it.
