Why is the Beecroft Hill signal/reception so poor that we do not even receive half of the freeview channels.
This is embarrassing in the 21st century, and something which you would expect of a third world country, not Yorkshire!
Even channels received such as film4 are of poor quality.
When will this be upgraded to come into line with the rest of the country, as people dependant on this mast are missing out.

DD: Check if you can tune to a better transmitter, but the reality is that Light transmitters are not worth most commercial broadcasters time - too much money for too few viewers.

If you want more channels and you cant get a better transmitter, then try Freesat.

DD:

Please provide a full post code so that we can check what transmitters are available in your area and what the reception conditions are like.

Please note that there are basically two types of transmitter, main one that give all the possible channels (there are 30 of those covering around 80% of the population) plus the Freeview Light transmitters covering small areas that have problems getting signals from main transmitters. The Freeview Light ones are required to carry all the PSB channels but it is entirely up to commercial broadcasters whether they pay for their channel to be on a Light transmitter. So it is not case of being embarrassing but a fact of commercial life. There are no known plans to upgrade any Freeview Light transmitter at present.

Well said DD, I have lived in Farsley for 30 years and suffered the same poor service from Beecroft Hill. For years we couldn't get Channel 5 and now receive a poor Freeview choice
