The symbol shows the location of the Belmont (Lincolnshire, England) transmitter which serves 710,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Belmont (Lincolnshire, England) mast?

Ian Heinz:

Also be aware that there are two things that could disrupt your reception at this time -
1) Belmont is listed for Planned Engineering this week with "Possible weak signal"
2) There's the possibility of Tropospheric Propagation disrupting reception for a couple of days, see -

I am getting intermittent pixelation on my TV. I have retuned my TV several times but still get the same problem. I have a signal booster. Is there any way of testing the signal booster to test if it is still working & working at reduced power.

I live in sheffield & am tuned into Belmont.

John Simon Knight:

We really need a full postcode to look at the predicted reception at your location. Without this it's difficult to offer anything other than general advice.

Where is your aerial, does it seem intact and is it still pointing in the correct direction?
Does your downlead look ok and undamaged? How old is it?

Check all the connections of your coax plugs and connectors for corrosion etc. Check flyleads for bad/broken connections usually at the back of the plug.

What does your TV tuning section give for the signal strength and quality on each multiplex?
If your booster has a gain control, turn it down and see what happens to the signal strength.
Take your booster out of circuit, connect the aerial direct to the TV and check the signal level and quality on each multiplex.

Chris.SE: Also, how old is your TV booster? You ideally need one with a built-in 4G/LTE filter.

I'm not sure why you've addressed your comment to me, although I suspect you meant John Simon Knight but in any event you conclusion/assumption is not likely/necessarily correct. You need to discover what is going on first, there was not information in his post. We don't know how long it's been happening and there could be an installation problem etc. hence my suggestions/questions. The cause of his problem my have absolutely nothing to do with 4G, generally you need a $G mast very close to you to get a problem.

The Belmont transmitter is listed for Planned Engineering. If you happened to have retuned when there was no signal, it will have cleared all correct tuning and you'll need to retune again when signals are back on air. Just try again.

John Simon Knight:

Some of those figures are not good, and despite your distance from Belmont, the Freeview Detailed Coverage checker predicts good reception for all multiplexes. Do you receive COM7 (C55) signals?

You've mentioned the booster installed in Dec.2016, but when was the aerial installed? Have you checked it's still pointing correctly, pretty well due E with the rods horizontal? Do you know the make and model of the aerial at all?
Is the booster a splitter as well (how many sets/), make and model would be useful.
An indication of when these pixelation problems started would also be useful.

I did, at the end of my previous reply to you, suggest try taking the booster out of circuit and connect the aerial direct to your (main) TV and check the signal and quality levels - do that for the same channels as you've just given. This may well give us a better indication of what is happening.

Just for the record, the BBC did report that the transmitter was Off the air due to essential engineering, but the hours didn't tally will your experience on the day.
