The symbol shows the location of the Winter Hill (Bolton, England) transmitter which serves 2,690,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Winter Hill (Bolton, England) mast?

Chris.SE: The first frame of the video actually shows a scan from 22/07/2020 04:09, when I had lost signal from The Wrekin C30-.

I'm not sure, but they may have moved the Haslingden C29 BBCB to C30, on that occasion, they certainly didn't the next night.

The remainder of the video is from what appears to be a repeat performance on the 23/07/2020 starting at 03:39.

I didn't notice before that C32 is switched off briefly at frame 115, 04:46.

Then, at frame 124, 04:30, the tests on C29 and C31 are switched off.

At frame 132, 04:33, both tests C34 and C35 have been switched off.

ARQA on C49 disappears briefly at frame 311, 05:49

The old BBCA on C50 is back at frame 315, 05:50.

I was puzzled by Birmingham TV on C48 as thought it emanated from Brierley Hill, on C33.

But who can trust what the NIT says these days. According to the NIT, all three petals of the local multiplexes off Winter Hill are still on C56!

Chris.SE:
Well, thanks for that, Chris! Ignorant as I am, I wasn't aware that local multiplexes might be transmitted from relays.

For some reason, I didn't see the Sutton Coldfield transmissions. I bow to your superior knoledge of the network.

After looking around a bit, I discovered that relays have relays that have relays!

But back to The Wrekin, and the service tables off it's frequencies.

The Wrekin doesn't have a parent transmitter but it's service tables belong to Sutton Coldfield.

Makes no sense to me.

What did I say? >> I bow to your superior knowledge of the network. (typo corrected ;) )
I certainly wouldn't agree, i think your knowledge of the network is probably far greater, just because each of us may miss things from time to time doesn't mean that either of us has greater knowledge in a particular area.

Those target regions in the NITs must be quite generalised? maybe based on regional news allocations to particular transmitters? but your overall knowledge of NITs must be far greater than mine which is virtually non-existent. Btw, you must be in a good spot to be able to pick up all these transmitters.

As for relays of relays, yes there appear to be some! (and some incorrectly listed as such in some places!!) but as for Brierley Hill I didn't realise it had a Local mux with Birmingham TV until this morning (not from your post co-incidentally but another one). Haslington BBCB is due to move from C29 to C30 on the 12th (along with Ladder Hill) (I've only been looking at some of DUK's pdfs by the way, nothing to do with knowledge!).

The apparent lack of logic (best way to describe it?) with these NITs might explain some of the oddities. I recall a few people mentioning some of the Yorkshire retunes when On-screen message popped up to retune when the specific transmitter they were receiving wasn't changing. I'd assumed it was just some sloppiness by Arqiva, but it could well have been NIT related.

Slight change of topic, I've not got, or been able to find a list of Tx TSIDs. Any idea where one might find one?

Chris.SE: Well, thanks for the compliment Chris, but I don't deserve it. And thanks for correcting the typo:

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.

I noticed it as soon as I had posted, but we can't edit our posts.

Chris.SE: Regarding Transport Stream IDs or TSIDs:

I'm not aware of any official list of TSIDs but the tables off com7 and 8 have SDT and EPG for what seems to be every UK multiplex.

Unfortunately, because they are not in the NIT, there are no Target Regions, frequencies, or LCNs for the services on them, so the problem is to discover the transmitters that carry them.

There has never been any frequency data for T2 multiplexes anyway, so no loss there.

Only the PSBs have Target Regions other than GBR.

The BBC ONE service names give the region for BBC A multiplexes.

For D3&4, the EPG data gives the regional ITV local news.

For BBC B, where currently BBC ONE HD is not regionalised, the region is indicated, though perhaps not uniquely, by the ITV HD local news.

This is Com7 National pf.xls (663KB) - the now/next off com7 showing the ITV local news regions:

Free large file hosting. Send big files the easy way!

This list is from around the time when Com78 National first appeared:

Com78 National 15-01-2018 21 07.txt - Pastebin.com

This is the current list:

Com7 National 29-07-2020 20 44.txt - Pastebin.com

The old list is useful for identifying Local Multiplexes which now have no indication of region or city, for example:
