Does anyone know how to switch off the top up TV updater in a Thomson box. It can be the only thing affecting my channels.

jb38, I guess it's got to be the box because at lunch time today, watching channel 10 (ITV 3) with no problem, then all of a sudden black screen and no aerial symbol.

Switched box off and back on and it was fine gain.

Happy days. More expense I guess, so far this whole change over has cost out Motel about a £1000 in new kit.

Total different last night, I lost channel 60 that's never happened since the final switch.

Didn't notice any in SN3 just for a change.

Why can't you alter the timing, given these boxes are not exclusively sold in the UK.

After lots of instability my systems seem to be behaving fine now (all crossed). However I have recently noticed another issue. Some of the stations seem to be transmitting in different picture modes, which can be altered with the handset, but it is certainly a new event.

Any thoughts. Having checked each set the set up is as per correct screen mode.

Brenning same problem from SN3 4ST, for most of the morning yesterday we couldn't get itv and no bbc intermittently, but strangely only on two of our highest aerials, those about 20 feet lower had good reception.

We were also experiencing colour distortion with everything greener than normal

Now they appear back to normal.

It happened again last night about 10pm, couldn't get any itv at all, and 31 and 30 were popping in and out. This was on 2 different aerials and I tried 3 different freeview boxes, that I know work fine.

I do wish the powers that be would be honest about this. As a commercial user with a Motel I have to be able to tell my guests something other than, I don't know.

It seems the wonders of digital are not that wonderful, perhaps it's a ploy to get us all over to Murdochs SKY.

More problems about the same time last night. Rob we have been told various things over the last few years, one would have thought by now there would be a trouble free system.

I have been told variously that it's my equipment, my TV's, the location of my aerials, the weather, occasionally a transmitter problem (but apparently that's a rarity).

If this life after analogue can we have it back please. Better to have just 5 channels than at times none at all.
