Peter Dennis:

This website offers assistance with reception problems, but it is not the Freeview Help service. That can be found at

I suspect many of the regular contributors to this independent website may well have some ideas about your problem.

According to the dta given via the 'digitaluk trade' link you are just 1 km from the Kenilworth transmitter and 33 km from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter. At those distances it is probable that you do not need a booster and that could be the cause of your problems, try using it without the booster in circuit by replacing it with a simple 'straight through' coupler. Also check which transmitter you are actually tune into by checking the channel numbers of the multiplexes being received - it is possible that it has picked up the wrong transmitter, Sutton Coldfield being at 328 degrees and Kenilworth at 90 degrees. You can check where your aerial is pointing with the aid of a compass.

Let us know the results of these checks and if needed we may have more ideas to offer.

Coach:

The transmitters are not operated by either the BBC or Freeview but by a private company Arqiva. The source of engineering work information is, I believe, drawn from them.

60-70% is borderline for some TV sets but 95% is rather too high! That suggests there may be a problem with your aerial installation or with the cables from the aerial to your TV set. That would also account for variations. It's worth noting that another enquirer eventually found that having his HiFi speaker wires running alongside and touching the aerial feed was the cause of a similar problem, so worth check where all the wires are running so they are clear of the aerial leads.

Gary:
We need some clear idea of where you live, best found by giving a post code on this website. Then we contributors would be able to see which transmitter you ought to be using and hence find out whether is transmits the multiplex carrying Motors TV.

Perry and Mike Higgins:

We really do need a post code (or that of a close by public building or shop) so we can look up which transmitter you should be using and hence determine if there are any engineering works ongoing or maybe some other reason.

Bear in mind that this website is totally independent of any broadcaster and the transmitter operator. As such, we contributors are as much reliant on the information available from the broadcaster and/or operator.

Dale Rumbold:

That's a very unusual problem! Have you chec ked with a neighbour to see if they are getting the same effect on their Freeview service? If they are not, then it is likely to be a fault in your equipment.

I suggest that you contact the broadcaster direct, their website is at http://www.movies4men.co.uk/. This website is entirely independent of any broadcaster.

Elizabeth Driver:

To assist with this type of problem contributors need to know your location more accurately as Hemel Hempstead is a large area. Do this by providing a post code (or that of a close by shop or post office) so we can then examine which transmitter would likely be best for you and whether there are any known problems with that. Also whether there are any reception problems due to hills, buildings, etc.

Have you asked your neighbours who also use Freeview whether they are having the same problems? If they are not then you may have a problem with your aerial system, the cabling or the TV set itself.
