Reigate (Surrey, England) Full Freeview transmitter

I'm having trouble recently with reception of just the BBCA multiplex, channel 60, from the Reigate transmitter. I wonder if anyone knows any reason and how long this might last.

I'm in Redhill (RH1 2DG) just below the Reigate transmitter (I can see the red light on top if I look out my upstairs windows), with a loft aerial.

Up until a week and a half ago, reception was good, but then we got a lot of interference, increasing over the weekend, but only on channel 60, the BBCA multiplex. All the other multiplex channels are good.

I tried an automatic retune and my Freeview HD box retuned this BBCA multiplex to channel 23, from the Crystal Palace transmitter, even though my aerial is vertical for Reigate and the Crystal Palace orientation appears. horizontal, and according to your coverage maps I'm not expected to receive it at all. It's not perfect, signal quality is often less than 50%, though I've tweaked my aerial direction to maximise it.

Trying to tune back to channel 60 since its signal quality seems to have got worse.

Any clues?

Regards,

GaryH

One other note, Reigate transmitter is 306 degrees, roughly where my aerial is pointing, of course. But I note the Crystal Palace aerial is the other side of North, at 15 degrees, I'd guess, so I wouldn't expect to be receiving signals direct.

Is it possible the Reigate transmitter is repeating the Crystal Palace transmissions?

Gary Higginson: I think I have a few clues already: the 4G comments above, the number of mobile masts near me as appear on my "Free view Map", and another read of the BBC website reception help pages, leading to the at800.tv website, plus only the BBCA multiplex being affected, on channel 60 @ -786MHz, just below the 4G 800MHz band.

I suspect a new 4G mast/service has been ramping up its transmission power over the last few weeks, causing my worsening interference.

I've submitted an enquiry on the at800.tv site. I expect they'll send me a filter and hopefully this will restore my BBCA channel from Reigate transmitter.

I'll update what happens, and hopefully this may be useful to others.

Thanks to this site's providers and contributers, as it's given me very useful info for set up and problem solving over the last few years.

Merry Christmas!
