Mike Knowles: We are all paying for 5G one way or another and those of us losing stations are treated with bureaucratic indifference by Ofcom, DigitalUK, etc. It seems we should be grateful to get BBC4 SD, or we can switch to Sky, Freesat or BBC iPlayer.

Chris.SE: I agree with all your points here and it has been sad for me at a certain age to see the BBC decline into a celebrity-obsessed liberal propaganda outlet. The recent announcement that the BBC can shrink its news team by 450 people and still operate is a measure of how bloated it has become. There are signals from government that the hated licence fee has a limited life remaining.

So the BBC's response to the consultation on decriminalising the licence fee is to devise another protectionist racket, ignoring the low-paid and smaller providers. It's just another outrageous tax on people whether they watch TV or not and shows how out of touch the BBC has become. It produces a tiny number of worthwhile TV programmes and rather more on radio, but its dominant presence in news and current affairs allows it to spew out an incessant stream of globalist, anti-British prpoganda, supported by the rest of the MSM. In recent years it has lost the trust of many ordinary people, it's audience is diminishing and it needs to be cut down to size.

Is this engineering work the cause of occasional short-lived dropouts on PSB3 channels from Rowridge with a black screen and a 'no signal' message? I usually get a strong signal so these dropouts are an unpleasant surprise.
