Full technical details of Freeview

derek: If you are receiving Freeview from the Tacolneston transmitter then engineering work is being carried out this week starting today, this resulting in random periods of disruption to the service.

lou: Well its not exactly Freeview that you watch as that term is associated with the main terrestrial service via a normal aerial, but yes! you will still be able to view any programme channel that is not one of Sky's dedicated package channels.

You can of course check on what you will be able to view by simply removing your card and running through the programme guide list, Sony TV (157) being one of the few that although free requires the card to be inserted as its encrypted.

Laura: No one can possibly offer assistance with queries of this nature unless they have knowledge of your location, this in the form of a post code or one from nearby, e.g: a shop / post office, this being necessary in order to gain access to info on the transmitters that cover your area.

Apart from that, a simple Freesat box would work perfectly OK on the Sky dish, and which you might have to resort to using as judging by what you have said would suggest that you are not located in a good signal area thereby requiring a loft or even rooftop mounted aerial.

Tony Haynes: The only reason for my enquiry with regards to a communal aerial was simply because the reason for what you have mentioned has be caused by something very local to where you reside, have you as yet checked with any of your neighbours to ascertain if they are also experiencing similar problems to yourself? because as Dave Lindsay has touched on the problem is suggestive of being caused by something of an auto-checking / updating nature such as used in remote switching or sensing devices.
