Thanks.
What would be a low powered booster? I was thinking of something like an SLX2 between the aerial and existing amp. Is that too powerful?

Now put an SLx2 between the aerial and the existing SLx6x amp (needed the mains lead to the socket). I now have 100% quality and 98% strength on the reference Sony but needed the SLx2 turned up fully to get that.

Odd thing is there is about 1-2second delay between the Sony and Tosh TV's on the ground floor. How can that happen on the same amplifier?
Thanks all for the help.

Answered my own query - Sony was on standard and Tosh was on HD, obviously gives a difference in output, presumably due to processing time or something. They are in sync on the same format.

I am in Tunbridge Wells receiving signals from the Heathfield transmitter. I returned from holiday to a message on channel 10 saying retune for ITV3. I have retuned but only get the same message. Has it been lost from this transmitter?

I have not been in much to check but it seems I spoke too soon, and odd that 2 TV's receive ITV3 OK but one does not. It is a Sony (others are Toshiba and Logik) which has been retuned but still shows 'no signal' when selected (and 'No Event Information' on the Guide). All other channels seem to be OK. They are all supplied from the same aerial and amplifier in the loft. Any ideas gratefully received.

Heathfield (East Sussex, England) transmitter

We are tuned to the Heathfield transmitter but have had a very poor or no signal since this morning. This is on 3 different TV's. Is there a reported problem there?

Tunbridge Wells

Chris.SE:
OK thanks. I checked what I could on the 'net and no work or problem on Heathfield was indicated. I tried re-tuning one TV but it could not pick up anything (no signal). Then it all came back about 16.30 and is OK now. Maybe it was 'tropospheric ducting'.

Postcode is TN2 5HE which Freeview will say it is served by Tunbridge Wells transmitter. This does not work as we are on the shadow side of a hill and the transmitter is blinded. The only connection for the area is Heathfield which does give a strong signal.

Bexhill-on-sea

I have recently moved to Bexhill (Post code TN39 3TA). The TV (Freeview) picture is not bad but could be sharper. The houses around seem to have aerials pointing in different directions, I am guessing some towards Heathfield and some towards Hastings. Mine looks to be pointing towards Hastings. Which is likely to give the best signal and service?

Chris.SE: Hi Chris,
Apologies, I was away for quite a while and only just found this response.
The existing roof aerial has vertical (X) and I think is pointing to Bexhill (seems to match the angles you noted). It seems to work and, as we have a very high roof, I could not get up to change the X orientation!
Some other houses behind ours look to be using Heathfield.
I have added an aerial in the loft to feed Freeview to the bedroom TV at a similar angle to the roof one (ie Bexhill) which seems to be fine but has horizontal X's (because I did not know any better).
Not sure how to check between muxes and PSB's. Would I be missing anything much by retaining Bexhill instead of trying Heathfield?
