I really couldn't agree more with the final sentence. Well said.

I can't see any issues with the HD channel numbering on Freeview. Given than most people watch the main terrestrial channels, what's difficult about using 101, 102, 103 and 104 for the majority of the time. I'm in Nottingham and if I tune to BBC 1 SD for the regional news, a prompt appears on screen at the end of the bulletin asking me to press the "OK" button to watch in HD.
As and when more HD channels appear on Freeview, I would guess that they'll continue on 105, 106 and so on, thus creating a block of HD channels on consecutive numbers. I find it very straightforward.

It looks awesome Brian. I'd be lost without this site. Keep it coming.

I've always embraced DAB technology at home and now have six DAB receivers around the house, plus an in-car adaptor which works perfectly.
However, the car adaptor (and any other car DAB system) falls down with signals from local muxes, once I leave an area.
I'll explain. I listen to Gold. On DAB in Nottingham it's perfect. But once I leave the city boundary, on DAB.- it's gone. On medium wave however, it stays with me for miles and miles. And I have MW presets which at the touch of a button and a bit of pre tuning, give me Gold wherever I go.
So a local station on DAB in a car is a non starter if you're not staying local. That's why I still listen to medium wave.

Why Channel 73 for CBBC HD? I thought the last major retune was to sort the Freeview channels into some sort of order i.e. all the HD channels in the 100s?

Have they forgotten that bit?

I tune my freeview box manually. When local TV arrives in the East Midlands (Waltham) will this mean manually tuning an extra "channel" or will it be incorporated in the existing five multiplexes and the HD multiplex?

I think the site is pretty much spot on as it is.
As a Freeview + HD viewer, it's invaluable in letting me know when additional channels are imminent and when to retune the box.
Continued good luck with it all.
