You are probably receiving Haslingden instead of winter hill, this transmitter is a nuisance in many areas.
Disconnect the aerial, start auto scan. When the scan is about 1/3rd of the way through reconnect the aerial and let it continue.
Hopefully this will clear the problem

It looks like something is overloading. I live not too far from you and also have a signal level of 80% on a Humax T2 so it is probably not the Humax itself. Have you got any amplifiers in circuit if so try bypassing them. There is also a powerful TETRA base station on top of a block of flats near Tesco's on Altrincham road not far from your area, these can also cause problems with aerial amplifiers.

Which Humax freeview box are you using. Is reception on the TV OK if the aerial is connected directly to it. From personal experience I can tell you that if a TETRA base station has opened up recently in your area the loop through amplifier in a Humax 9200 will overload and cause this effect on channel 59 only, a TETRA mobile causes this on channel 60. Splitting the aerial feed with a good quality low loss splitter, half to the TV half to the Humax should clear the problem. If it is a base station the interference will be continuous if a mobile it will be intermittent. I assume you are not using an aerial amplifier of any kind as these are notorious for causing this type of problem.

Sorry the above should read TETRA base stations will cause problems on channel 58 (SDN multiplex) Mobiles channel 59 (Digital 3/4) Although high level interference can cause problems on anything. TETRA stations frequently have 3 poles each carrying a number of folded dipoles and are used by a wide range services.

Could you give us the signal strength and quality of all the multiplexes as displayed on both your TV and Humax as this would help to eliminate the possibility of 4G which I didn't think had started in this area yet. If it is 4G you will be able to get a free filter from at800.

If you are going to have to pay someone to move your aerial it might be better value in the long run to have someone reputable replace it with a wide band one pointing at winter hill together with CT100 or similar coax.

ATV aerial of Sheffield(/www.aerialsandtv.com) sell brass plugs to solve that problem, might be worth getting some. I also wonder if the pc tracks inside your aerial amp are also corroded as in South Trafford I get levels of around 77% from a loft aerial on a Humax Fox T2. Although 30% sounds much lower than 50% you must remember that the signal strength meters on domestic devices aren't very linear so it may be telling you that levels in general are rather poor. Try bypassing the amp and feed the aerial directly to the cable feeding the Humax and see if the signal rises, if it is better the amp is faulty, if it gets worse I'm afraid you may have an aerial problem.

Dave Lindsay:

Choice,Gold, Heart and LBC all down in Manchester but other MXR stations such as Capital are OK. Radio says 100% signal zero bit rate.

The lack of postings about this here or on Digital Spy should be of concern to Global as obviously no one is listening.

No and No, they are only available in the Manchester area from a very low powered transmitter and the reception there is fairly patchy.
