Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) transmitter
Wednesday 15 January 2014 8:29PM

Adrian: Looking at your image I would suspect you're having problems with interference affecting the quality of the signal as the strength stays the same. Have you any new electrical equipment that starts and stops or central heating boiler etc.?

David phelan: You could try using a filter, they are very effective. I use one for Emley Moor to filter out Bilsdale and Belmont. Have a look here for more information:

Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) transmitter

Dave Lindsay: I can assure you that the attenuation of the filter on the new HD channels is not enough to stop the reception of said channels. Don't forget, the aerial will be facing Emley Moor and not Bilsdale or Belmont thus only receiving the wanted TX.

I agree that Digital 2 needs to be DAB+ that would be the only way forward. Just like getting DAB-T2 is now the only sensible choice for TV. It's a no brainer. But will the people in charge agree? Probably not.

Details of 12D_Leeds DAB multiplex
Tuesday 4 March 2014 1:27PM
York

I can receive this multiplex in Pocklington, East Riding of Yorkshire with a very strong signal strength on both my Pure One and my Ford Sony radio in the car. (Better than our local Humberside multiplex). What I find strange though is Radio Aire, Radio Leeds and Magic 828 are the only stations available on the Pure One but in the car, all stations are available on the Leeds multiplex.

I personally think that if the BBC stopped all the repeats, all the programming from BBC ONE, TWO, three and Four could easily fit on three channels. And while we're on the subject, why CBBC and Cbeebies? I also think the +1 channels waste bandwidth that could be better used increasing the bit rate and therefore the quality of the picture. We seem to be in a culture of trying to squeeze a quart into a pint pot. Lets have less compression.

Dave Lindsay: I agree. Most people have some sort of PVR these days (Sky+, Freesat, Freeview, YouView from BT or TalkTalk etc.). I also know of one person who still uses a VHS VCR connected to a freeview box.

BBC three to be taken online and replaced on Freeview and satel

MikeB: Just have a think at what you stated. Of course one less station would mean the others on that MUX would not have to be compressed as much. I prefer quality over quantity any day. The quality of some of the channels is a lot worse than a good analogue PAL signal used to be.

If the BBC has to still pay for the capacity on the MUX, then surely it could be sublet to another broadcaster (subject to contract). And I agree CBBC and cbeebies could be amalgamated to one channel.

MikeP: Definitely due to the weather. I have received MKFM & BBC 3 Counties etc. on DAB 10C in East Riding of Yorkshire.

Excuse me for being thick, but how can scrapping BBC three save money, if it is still going to be broadcast on the internet and the transmission slot being used to transmit BBC one+1? Same production costs, same transmission costs.

BBC three is aimed at the late teenager to 30ish. A lot of which don't have broadband internet access. So how can they be expected to watch?

All I see is flaws in the whole idea.
