Although you say you receive channels ok on other equipment, are they in perfect working order all of the time? if not then you have poor reception at your house, different equipment can cope better with poor signal ie one tv working perfectly well but another brand showing issues.

The fact the receiver picks up different amounts of channels each retune would indicate to me reception issues.

Im am local to you and know your location well.

Reception in this area is very good, not likely to be too strong unless you have an amplifier on the system.

The issue is not the transmitter or anything to do with you paying a license fee.

The issue must be with your system or equipment.

VP COMS 7 & 8

Digital uk has recently investigate for me wether or not coms 7 & 8 will be on both HP and VP

They have confirmed that they will be solely transmitter on HP at the time of launch using 25kw power (not very good lol)

With this low strength transmission it will only reach upto 70% of properties currently using Rowridge

I would stick with VP and sacrifice the change of receiving these extra coms as VP is far superior to the HP reception.

John:

I am a install not local to you :)

But in your location I would fit a Zone 2 dish, even in a location that only needs a Zone 1 you would be doing no harm, the bigger the dish the more signal you will receive.

Good luck aligning the dish unless you have a professional meter. a few MM out is all it takes to lose signal.

Samantha, Derby:

That changes things.

You have another receiver that is working perfectly well, try the faulty radio in the same location as the working radio, if this works then the location is the issue, if it doesn't work then the radio is the problem.

GLENN HALLAM:

You seem to have marginal low signal issues.

This is generally the alignment of the dish.

A little tweeking should fix it.

With satellite reception even a millimetre or two can make loads of difference.

DAVE

sorry I should have said which CAI cable I use.

Its true that some CAI products are crap such as philex aerials that have poor build quality.

I use Webro WF100 coax or Webro HD100 and sometime CT100

I also use these same cables for fly leads from the outlet plates using compression f connectors, not the crap pre made cables.

Sarah :

If the freeview is built into the tv then there is an issue with the tv.

If the freeview is via a set top box then you could have an issue with the cable between the receiver and the tv, the connection on the tv or the connection on the receiver.

Ian:

thanks for that information.

I say CT100 as this is what some electricians have told me they installed ready for me on the job, I have not purchased it myself, I just know from the spec of the shielding that it is good cable. Clearly they use the name CT100 like your analogy of the hoover :) but fit a different spec, I will check next time I come across it.

I purchase WF100 and HD100.

Jamie.
