Why have I been sent a filter for my Freeview? | 4G-at-800

Even with only 1 tv your location can still be receiving too much signal.

The way to fix this issue would be to install a variable gain attenuator.

This reduces the signal to stop your tv reception overloading.

cate:

You was very lucky to be able to record using a box that's not on an account.

That must have been a clitch in your favour.

STB's that are not on account should only let you view minimal channels and definitely not record.

Jamie.

Andrew Brown-

You are right, everyone will say a different price.

I would say from £100 to £150 depending on install, but always the same quality.

Others as you say will want £200 plus.

and the cowboys putting new aerials on old rusty brackets using the same old cable for £60.

I feel more sorry for people paying top wack and still getting a cr@p job done.

Phone sky and subscribe to a package where they will then arrange a time with you to complete an installation.

Go onto www.lovedigitaltv.co.uk and read all about them.

I have used a similar company in the past, but would avoid them.

It depends on what your work load is for yourself.

These companies generally need very short notice appointments seeing to, usually same day.

Do you want to sacrifice the service to your regular customers for these pay in 30 day companies.

Also your profit margins will probably be very low.

Good luck with that.

It will only last until the system realises the box shouldn't be receiving channels.

When it stops just get a freesat box from argos, currys etc and it will do the trick.

Kathy Webb :

although you are a licence fee payer, it is impossible for every property in the country to receive perfect service.

To do this they would need transmitters and relays everywhere which would be at the detriment to the local landscapes.

As a sacrifice of the few homes they cannot service correctly we get to keep our landscape looking good and also stop our brains from frying with technological impulses in the airwaves :)

If you stop using tv and radio services you can stop paying your fee.

You have 2 options

1. get a satellite cable into the bedroom with which you an connect a Freesat box to, this will give you Free to Air stations

2. Run a coax cable from your sky box which will enable you to watch you sky box in the bedroom (only the same channel)

If the install included 4 new cable runs along with the new aerial install the charge should realistically not be over £300.

If the install was for a new aerial with connection to existing cables the job should not be more than about £200.

IGNORE THE COMMENTS FROM NICK ADSL UK

£450 is excessive

I use galvanised brackets and CAI approved cable, im RDI approved and my jobs would never go over the prices above. These are maximum prices should the install be non standard.

Map of all DAB transmitters

Samantha, Derby:

If you have only been able to receive a few in the past and not the full service available this would suggest reception is marginal in the location of your DAB radio, with a marginal signal you will always be open to loss of stations, although it has been working ok loss of service can happen at any time with a marginal signal.

To rectify this you should try the radio in a different part of the room, failing that, you may need a DAB antenna installed at your home.
