Hannington (Hampshire, England) transmitter

I can receive both Hannington and Crystal Palace signals (both approximately the same strength) and have the 2 aerials terminating into a diplexor with the Crystal Palace going into the "A" group input (channels 21-33) and Hannington going into the "E" group input (channels 39-68). Everything was fine until BBC4 HD recently moved frequency. Now BBC4 HD is breaking up due to very low signal. I realised that their new frequency is on channels 34 and 35 which is between the channel inputs of my diplexor and hence this is attenuating the signal on this frequency. I then replaced the diplexor with a Labgear 2 way splitter that is wide band and I can now get BBC4 HD again on full signal. Unfortunately this has created further problems as I can no longer get Freeview channels 7 and 8 (London Live and That's Hampshire) which I was getting with reasonable signal. There is a large overlap on the frequencies used by the Hannington and Crystal Palace stations. For example Crystal Palace uses channel 33 but Hannington uses channel 32 and also channel 29 I believe for That's Thames Valley. Any advice in resolving this problem would be appreciated

Chris. Thank you very much for this information. It seems that I won't really know the outcome until these other frequency changes are done in the spring. For the moment I have refitted the diplexer so am back with the BBC4HD signal problem but I can use my Sky box to watch this channel. My Crystal Palace aerial is definitely an A group and the Hannington aerial is possibly a B group as in the anologue days Channel 5 on channel 66 always had a snowy picture. It would seem with the frequency changes ideally the aerials should be wide band. I image that there are similar frequency changes in other regions as well in preparation of loosing the 700 MHz band

MikeP. Thanks for that suggestion which does make sense. The only problem I have is that the aerial feeds go into the loft where the diplexer is and from there I have one coax feeding down to the TV. Obviously it's not practical to go into the loft every time I want to change regions so I will need to fit an additional coax from the loft to the TV so that I can fit the change over switch by the TV

The problem I have though is that both aerial feeds go into the loft where the diplexer is and from there I have one coax going down to the TV. Obviously it's not practical to go into the loft every time I want to change regions so I would need to run another coax from the loft to the TV so that the change over switch is near the tv

Michael:
I am having the same loss of stations as yourself. Keep it Country is another one on the "lost" list. I am in Tadworth (KT20). I was under the impression that these stations were moving to channels 55 and 56. I have these channels are there is no signal at all from either. I was wondering if perhaps the changeover hasn't been completed or the aerial which is an A group and was the correct aerial for the channels is no longer suitable as A group is channels 21-33 and channels 55 and 56 are way off course frequency wise. Not very happy. The channels changes are apparently to do with the release of channels at the high frequency end for mobile phones, but Crystal Palace does (or did) use the lowest frequency end so I cannot understand why it's being changed

I don't know whether it's me being thick or missing something but I cannot understand why it was necessary to do frequency changes. Before the changes all multiplexes were between channels 23-33 and all in group A. Reception was perfect. My understanding is that the frequency changes are necessary due to the pending use of mobile 5g phones which will utilize channels 48-60.
Therefore why have some of the multiplexes moved to channels 55 and 56 which surely is part of the band that needs to be cleared ?
To make it worse because these channels are no longer in group A I am now not getting any signal at all. It means I have lost BBC4HD and KIC which I regularly watched. Also London Live has moved from channel 29 to channel 35 , again another favourite station no longer viewable.
Obviously I am far from happy so can someone please explain this fiasco

I've basically given up now trying to get my favourite channels back since the channel frequency change fiasco.
I used to get all channels with good signal from both Crystal Palace and Hannington.
Now I get absolutely nothing from Com 7 (channel 55), no signal or quality from either transmitter but I do get a signal from Com 8 (channel 56) . This is after I fitted a wide band high gain aerial which has proved to be a waste of money and time.
I now have to rely on my Sky box to continue watching the missing channels

I agree with you on this. I can get signals from both Crystal Palace and Hannington of equal strength and like you I can receive channel 56 (com 8) but get absolutely nothing from channel 55 (com 7)

Hooray Hooray... I can also confirm that I can at last now get com 7 (channel 55) . Why did it take so long to sort it? As I could already get com 8 (channel 56) but not com 7 I knew that the problem couldn't be " down my end".
I can receive both Crystal Palace and Hannington at my location and the signals before the frequency changes were about the same from both transmitters. After CP channel changes I had to replace my existing A group aerial for a log periodic which then allowed me to receive London Live again.
I have noticed that the signals that I am getting on com 7 and com 8 are coming from the Hannington transmitter so I assume that neighbours that only have an aerial pointing to Crystal Palace must still be having reception problems with coms 7 and 8 especially if they still have an A group aerial
