As i was getting very poor reception on Freeview this evening, i tried a retune. My local transmitter is Oxford. My TV pulled in 50 odd stations from the East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire transmitter! There never ever seems to be any problems with the Oxford transmitter - surely my experience indicates a tad slightly wrong with it?!

I suddenly lost channel 33 yesterday - neither reset autotuning nor manual tuning works yet no problems are reported. I don't see any adverse weather and nothing else has changed - same TV, aerial and all other channels are normal from Sutton Coldfield.

Just discovered that the Sutton Coldfield transmitter apparently moved com7 and com8 yesterday from channels 33 and 35 to 55 and 56 respectively. I can't get any reception for the new frequencies: why not?

You need to update: com7 and com8 moved to channels 55 and 56 ages ago. They are still broadcast at low power (why?!) however so those of us far away from the TX have reception difficulties when the weather is bad or there's the wrong kind of snow.

Reception from Sutton Coldfield is usually good here in north Oxon though COM78 can be iffy as it's low power (why can't we have all channels on high power?!). There have been some problems over the past few days but tonight is almost a Freeview wipeout! I see there are "unusual" weather conditions but that sounds like the wrong kind of snow. I'm getting high signal strength - over 90 (100 is max) according to my TV when the signal does get through but it keeps slamming to 0 as the error level shoots up :( The only other time this normally happens is when a plane gets in the way so it is short-lived, tonight (new year's eve) is horrendous! :(

I live south of Banbury but used to be able to get Com7 & 8 from Sutton Coldfield except under occasional extreme adverse weather conditions. I know com8 has ceased but i can't get com7 (channel 55) now - have they reduced the tx power and or the direction of transmission?

Update: aerial had worked loose so was misaligned. Com7 now receivable. It would help if they broadcast it at full strength though.

After the demise of com8 i was hoping for a better signal but channel 55 com7 signal from Oxford is rubbish - the power remains so much less than the main channels.
