Tony the only experts are the ones like JB/mike.Brian/and myself having said that my expertise is a little different in i know a duff storey if i was told one and regretfully you have been told one

I get a 100% for quality and strength as that's what I'm about as a person always going the extra mile to perfect something just like the old Japanese days

Sadly today thou those days are over but none the less i still aim for perfection in everything i undertake

Robert since switch-over my set up has been very bad despite all the equipment being of the highest spec one day on one day off and am told that's the way it's going to be in future by the BBC for some on Crystal Place

As for the reason the guy i was speaking to wasn't saying and i myself along with my tv field engineer have drawn a blank

I have freesat so this free view is no big deal but none the less would have liked it to work like is has done without fault from day one come switch over it's gone to pot

as you may not know in that i am a Microsoft MVP who helps the world for free in the main forums in security

I post hundreds of security updates a year and the vast majority of the people in the world receive these without a problem but for some reason there are thousands more who run into a problem and i guess that free view is just the same all we can do at the end of the day is to help out the public the best we can and hopefully educate the public a little better so that they can understand on what's going on behind the scenes so that they realize that there not alone and free help is forthcoming

There's just one other thing that i have just come across in that all leads that go into equipment need to be of quality as most leads do have a habit of starting out OK but then if moved or touched losing the connection for some odd reason

So it's vital that you use leads of a high standard to rule this out

It is steep but as for doing it yourself forget it it's not worth it working on a ladder not knowing what your doing best bet would be to get another quote around the typical £150 mark

i had a top installer charge me £650 when i moved into a brand new property and even thou i know what I'm doing i paid up

three years later the owner of the business said sorry and a cheque for £100 and i had been using the services of this business for 35 years which just goes to show you can get ripped off even by those that have known you for years

sad but true

panasonic as JB says is about the best with Sony where tuners are concerned
LG and samsung are good but only in a top class set up near to a transmitter otherwise you get the odd picture glitch every few minutes

i got ripped off buy a top class installer to the tune of £650 down here on the south coast
they normally charge a minimum of £300 and their still number one on the south coast
a bit odd but people in the south are otherwise they would never have gotten to the number one position and wealth

just do your best and what's right as that's the best way

i was charged £650 for a class A band aerial /DAB aerial and loft amp to supply the signal to the bedrooms in a new house
in total 2 hours work by the leading installer of 40 years for Sussex

The owner after 2 years of me complaining gave me £100 back as he felt that i had been ripped off but that was only after the trade body got involved

The bottom line is to be careful as the people i used were my friends so i thought having used them many times in the past

hi Steve/ Dave
because I've used them many times in the past 40 years i thought they were my friends so to speak and trusted them

the only thing different on this install was that the co owner of the business had just retired leaving someone who i hadn't met before to do the install

i still have the invoice to prove the case but the lessons here are that no matter who you are in life you have to tread careful as their will always be those that exploit the smallest of vulnerability in others and rip them off
