Also, Garth Hill is the feeder station for the transmitters at Knucklas, which also have no faults.

Yes - fix your equipment!

You have specified three main stations with hundreds of thousands of viewers, total equipment redundency at the transmitters and monitored 24/7 by the transmission engineers. You have also stated that you are in a poor signal location anyway.

Losing just one multiplex is indicative of a failing antenna system. Have your aerial system checked by a competent installer

Christine Brocklebank: The transmitter is off the air due to the power cut.

Please DO NOT perform a retune! If you do, you will lose all the stored services, and they will not come back even when the transmitter is back on

Winter Hill (Bolton, England) transmitter
Friday 11 November 2016 12:32PM

There are no known issues with the winter hill services. If you wish for help from the forum, we really need much more information -

Your postcode is essential for a start, so we know where you are in relation to the transmitter, but also, what exactly is the issue you are having? exactly which services? Are any other services affected in any way? What make and model equipment do you have? Have you an outside antenna and is it known t be working properly? Is it a wideband antenna or an old banded one?

For some odd reason, winter hill seems to get a lot of these sorts of complaints yet is not at fault? There certainly seems to be some sort of collective downer on it amongst the viewing public!

alexei romanov: Black Hill serves jus under 2.3 MILLION viewers, using NINE seperate TV transmitters with full redundancy, is fully monitored and telemetered 24/7 by Arqiva engineering staff. It also is retransmitted by 44 relays, all of which are also monitored 24/7 by Arqiva staff. The DAB is entirely a different system that only shares the mast and site, not the transmission equipments - and YOU are the ONLY person with a problem,

It is very clearly YOUR equipment at fault!

Lynda:
You do have weather problems! Biggin Hill is often affected by 'fading', that is, co channel interference during high pressure weather, such as is over the south today

Remember, what you call 'good' weather as a human - clear skies, dry, sunny, is actually bad weather as far as radio and TV signals are concerned!

Please DO NOT rescan when this occurs! At least in your case you have only done one out of several sets.

It is very likely the problem will go away as the weather gets back to normal British dull and drizzly

Emley Moor is Arqiva's flagship transmitting station, it carries ALL the muxes, including COMs 7 & 8 and a local TV mux, all at full power.

If you are not getting the full services, then either you have a fault in your antenna system or are not tuned to Emley but a small low power relay. From your partial postcode you could be tuned to Skipton, Cowling or several others. Please provide a FULL postcode and if possible the direction your aerial is pointing, and from that we can work out which relay you are watching.

You might be able to get Emley if you have your antenna set up for it, but you might find Keighley an easier option, which will give you more channels, but not all.

Also, remember that you will only get the HD channels if your equipment is fully HD capable, not just 'HD ready'

Rachel James: Can you provide more details please? What colour is it? How high up the mast? From which directions can it be seen? Can it also be seen during the daylight hours?
