Sorry - for "Hill" read "Heath".
Does this site cover equipment problems? My Wharfdate PVR - model LP250DTR - is not working. Cannot open disc, and making a noise. (SY132BT)

Should I buy Freeview HD for Christmas? | High definition

Hi Brian - and others

I had planned not to buy a new TV until HD and wifi access built in, but the demise of my pvr forces some earlier action.

I presume Wrekin will give HD TV after switchover next Weds. But can I yet buy, for a sensible price, a TV with built in HD tuner?

The standards are now fixed are they? I avoid early adopting!

The disc is built in not removable, so must be there.

In fact - latest update - it is now working again and not making odd noises. I suspect a dodgy bearing and not long before it fails again.

Simon - I think you need to ask on the page for the transmitter you are using. Presumably some changes as the area switches off Analogue!

Dennis - At the moment the Digital BBC signals are 10 times stronger than the others, which will get stronger next Wednesday, when the "normal" TV signal is switched off.

Thew Digital BBC has taken over the old BBC1 slot. Presumably you now get "normal" BBC1 where BBC2 used to be?

I retuned and seemeed to be getting the main channels OK - but think still some on C53/57.

Will leave it to later in the day and retune again. No point worrying until they have had time to finish and sort any problems.

I watched analogue ITV1 until it went off around 12:10! BBC1 on BBC2 was still on when I went to bed, but off now!

And my PVR seems to have mended itself. Said it needed a reformat - which I tried to do previously, and after that seems to have been OK. I have lost 250MB of recordings I would probably never have watched anyway! Suspect the problem may have been running with a full HD for months on end getting everything fragmented - no defrag tool afaik!

I'm getting all channels on the proper rooftop ae, but not the low power temporary ones on my set-top ae, but it is fine on the main channels, without an amplifier.

Will try an amp over the w/end, but giving them a few fays to finish tweaking.

Just checked with my set-top ae.

PSB1/BBCA/26 is 100%
PSB2/D3+4/23 is 50/60% despite apparently same 20kW
PSB3/BBCB/30 - dunno - not got HD
COM4/SDN/31 (not 49) - 10%
COM5/ARQA/57 NOT 53 as noted above - 10%
COM6/ARQB/53 NOT 57 as noted above - tiny/nil.

All usable except ARQB
