I am glad to see choice for others increased provided it does not deprive me of the choice to listen to radio 4 on my dozen or more FM radios; most integrated into other devices.

Rob do you have a problem?

If not, don't fix it.

If you look at the numbers, the total of analogue sets sold is still much higher than DAB (page 3.54)

So how can they even contemplate closing down FM for the main stations?

Stan Droitwich 200Hz/1500m was also used in the war to transmit morse to Bomber Command on operations when the Germans were trying to jam it. Apparently whatever they did could not totally cover it.

I simply do not believe the claims that without ancient valves it is impossible to transmit on LW frequencies.

LW penetrates into thje continent - maybe BBC don't care about those users.

But it is also used for the Shipping Forecast - apparently also for receivability at a distance.

And finally we need it as an emergency service for its robustness if complex networks fail.

All I want is to be able to carry on listening to Radio 4 on FM - and preferably LW too.

They have VASTLY better coverage than any Cellular digital is likely to, and bandwidth is free.

<< If you've got a decent package on your smart phone (and they start from just £40 for a pay as you go), you can stream via the net, either via 3/4G or possibly wifi, if thats possible. Most tablets/laptops are not cellular, so although tethering is possible, by and large your not going to stream from them while out and about. >>

Mike B please come to Wales and try. Lucky if we get 2G. And if we can get broadband by phone.

"JUST" £40? PER MONTH ? £500pa?

10% of your pension.

Junaid have you tried

- your box on another satellite dish?
- another box on your dish?
- phoning Sky. They help even if you don't subscribe.

I am very happy for there to be DAB radio so long as I am allowed to continue to receive the main BBC radios on the dozens of FM radios my family have; most integrated into other expensive equipment that I do not wish and could not afford to replace
