Steve P: It's annoying because if people weren't so impatient they would get the job done right first time! I hate people having to pay twice for one job! People want something for nothing these days, what they actually end up with is nothing for something!

steve: unfortunately a booster will not work at all. If the aerial points through the trees it will be affected no matter how much you amplify or 'boost' the signal. The only thing you can do is get as far away from the trees and as high up as possible. Really this is a job for a professional, but if you are a keen DIYer you may be able to do it yourself. Get as much knowledge about your local transmitter as you can.

Satellite will work through trees just as an aerial will, however it is more likely to be susceptible to interference.
You are absolutely correct Steve P a local installer should be able give you an idea if you can receive a signal or not.

Wow Tony is obviously from a different planet! Yes some installs can be achieved for £100 or less. But there are places where the access is dangerous even with the correct safety kit (Which costs hundreds of pounds by the way) then you need a twin chimney bracket and twin lashing and a 12ft, 2 inch diameter mast and a wolsey HG10 aerial and masthead. You want us to do that for £100??!! Not even worth getting out of bed for!
If you are looking for the cheapest quotes you will get the cheapest job, pay cheap, pay twice.

Does anyone know if there is a problem with Ridge hill? Had terrible problems with an install yesterday in particular with CH21 and 24. Great strength but poor quality. We are installers so we know what we are doing, the area that we were installing is normally very good for signal so it has to be either the transmitter or outside interference.

Pete Crawford: Hi Pete, unfortunately only itv west is available on the ridge hill transmitter on UHF channel 29. Freesat would be the only way to receive the west on BBC.

KC: it can be overcome by reducing the size height and possibly location of your aerial. There is no need for an high gain aerial where you are and so a smaller one would give you the channels that you want and omit the ones you don't!
